This topic provides an overview of considerations in global deployment of Microsoft Dynamics AX.
Country- or region-specific functionality included in the SYS layer and the GLS layer
The SYS layer includes country or region-specific functionality for Australia/New Zealand, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand (except the withholding tax functionality), the United Kingdom/Ireland, and the United States.
Additionally, there are three GLS layers. Each layer contains functionality for a specific country or region as listed in the following table.

Only the GLS layer for Turkey is released with the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 product at the time of release. The consolidated GLS layer and GLS layer for Eastern Europe are NOT yet released with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. |
Considerations for global deployment
The GLS layer for Turkey requires a completely separate installation. You can install either the consolidated GLS layer or the GLS layer for Eastern Europe together with the SYS layer in one instance. If more than one GLS layer is needed to cover the required country-specific functionality, you need to deploy an instance of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 for each additional GLS layer.
