Before you can create dimension set rules, you must create dimension sets and dimension set hierarchies, as described in Create a dimension setand Create dimension set hierarchies.

Dimension set rules, which are rules for the dimension set hierarchies, are defined to restrict the value combinations that can be applied to specific ledger accounts or used in particular journals or tables. You can create the rules as described in the following steps.

  1. Click > > > .

    Tip Tip

You can also click to open a wizard to assist you as you create dimension set rules.

    Note Note

If you instead open the form by clicking in the form, only the selected dimension set is displayed.

  2. Select the dimension set for which you want to set up dimension set rules for the dimension set hierarchies in the pane.

  3. In the pane, press CTRL+N to create a line for the collection.

  4. In the field, enter a unique identifier for the rule collection. A collection helps to organize the rules.

  5. In the field, enter a brief description of the rule collection.

  6. In the field, the default hierarchy for the dimension set is proposed, but any hierarchy that is created for the dimension set can be selected. The description of the hierarchy is filled in when the hierarchy is selected.

  7. In the lookup field, you can point to a specific branch of the hierarchy. The idea is to apply a particular rule collection to a specific part of a dimension set hierarchy, instead of applying a rule collection to a large part of a hierarchy or to an entire hierarchy. Your selection of part of the hierarchy is reflected on the tab.

    Note Note

The prefix on a collection of rules does not validate anything and is simply copied to the detailed rules at the moment of their creation. Modify the prefix on the detailed rule.

  8. In the pane, press CTRL+N to create a line.

  9. The value cannot be selected manually. Instead, it is assigned automatically when the line is saved.

  10. In the field, select the ledger accounts, journals, or tables that are subject to the rule.

  11. In the field, select a specific identification in relation to the selected . If you, for example, selected journals in field, you can select a specific journal name. The description is filled in when you enter the selection.

  12. In the field, the hierarchy for the selected rule collection is proposed, but you can change it.

  13. In the lookup field, the prefix on the selected rule collection is proposed, but you can change this. Your selection is reflected on the tab.

  14. If you have selected in the field, you can select the check box to force the prefix dimensions to be fixed dimensions on the form.
