Favorites are a way to create shortcuts to forms, reports, and queries. As your list of favorite shortcuts grows, you can keep it organized by creating folders. If you want to further organize your favorite shortcuts, you can create favorite groups.

Add shortcuts to the Favorites pane

You can create shortcuts to forms, reports, and queries that you use frequently.

If a form has one or more queries associated with it, you can include a query with your shortcut. For example, if the Customersform includes queries for open orders, pending orders, and closed orders, you can create a shortcut to the form and include one of the three associated queries in your shortcut.

Add a shortcut to a form, report, or query

  1. In the Navigation Pane, click the form, report, or other item that you want to add to your list of favorites.

  2. On the Microsoft Dynamics AXmenu, click Favorites, and then click Add to favorites.

    Tip Tip

    You can also drag items or folders from the Navigation Pane to the Favorites pane.


  3. Type a name for the shortcut.

  4. Optionally, select the query that you want to associate with this shortcut.

    If the form includes more than one associated query, select a query from the list.

  5. If necessary, type a name for the associated query.

  6. If you have more than one group, select the appropriate favorite group.

  7. Select the appropriate folder.

Organize your favorite items into folders

As your list of favorite items grows, you can keep it organized by creating folders. For example, you could create a folder named Monthlyfor storing shortcuts to all the reports and forms you use for monthly reporting activities.

You can move items between folders, delete or rename folders, and change the order of folders that appear in the list.

Create a folder

  1. On the Microsoft Dynamics AXmenu, click Favorites, and then click Organize favorites.

  2. Click , type a name for the folder, and then press ENTER.

  3. Drag the shortcuts (or folders) in the list to the appropriate folders.

    Tip Tip

    If the number of shortcuts or folders makes dragging impractical, you can use the button.


Move, rename, or delete an item or folder

  1. On the Microsoft Dynamics AXmenu, click Favorites, and then click Organize favorites.

  2. Select the item or folder that you want to move, rename, or delete.

  3. To move the item to a different folder, click and browse to the destination folder.

  4. To rename the item or folder, click and type a new name for the folder.

  5. To delete the item or folder, click .

Organize your favorite items into groups

If you want to organize your favorite shortcuts in more detail than using folders allows for, you can create favorite groups. For example, if you complete similar tasks for two different companies, you can create a group for each company and organize your folders and shortcuts within each group. By default, Microsoft Dynamics AX includes a group named .

Create a new favorite group

  1. On the Microsoft Dynamics AXmenu, click Favorites, and then click Create group.

  2. Type a name for your group, and then click .

Select which favorite group to view

You can change the favorite group that is displayed in the Favorites pane. If you select a different favorite group, the Favorites pane displays the folders and favorite items that are organized within that group.

  1. In the Favorites pane, click the current group name. If this is the first time that you have used the Favorites feature, click . This is the default group name.

  2. Select the name of the group that you want to view.

Move, rename, or delete a group

  1. On the Microsoft Dynamics AXmenu, click Favorites, and then click Organize favorites.

  2. Select the group that you want to move, rename, or delete.

  3. To move the group within the list, click or .

  4. To rename the group, click and type a new name for the group.

  5. To delete the group, click .
