You can search for data in Microsoft Dynamics AX by using the feature. A global search uses a text index generated by the Data Crawler, so the Data Crawler must be set up and started before you can search your data. For more information, see Setting up the Data Crawler for a global searchor contact your system administrator.

Search for information

  1. Press CTRL+F to open the pane.

  2. In the Search forfield, type the text you are searching for, and then press ENTER.

    Note Note

    You cannot search for information by date or time values, because although dates and times are viewed in your preferred time zone, they are stored in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). For more information time zones, dates, and times see About date/time data and time zones.

  3. To filter the results of your search, select a category from the Categorieslist.

Change the format of your search results

  1. In the , click .

  2. Select the number of records per page that you want to display.

  3. Select the sorting behavior of the results list:

    • – List the results according to the number of instances of the search term found in a record

    • – List the results, per table, according to the primary field, such as Customer name or item number.
