You can integrate Project and Production costs by using one of the following methods:

  • Finished item/Link to order

  • Finished item/No link to order

  • Consumed item/Link to order

  • Consumed item/No link to order

Depending on the method that you select, you can post the actual project cost of your production at earlier stages instead of only viewing committed costs as the production progresses. You can set the default method of finished item or consumed in the form ( > > ).

Finished item/Link to order

If you select the Finished item/Link to order method, you can link the project to a sales order or an item requirement. Using this method will post the actual project costs when the sales order is invoiced or when the packing slip is updated for the item requirement. The cost will be posted as a finished item.

Finished item/No link to order

If you select the Finished item/No link to order method, you do not have the project production linked to allow you to post actual costs until the production has a status of Ended. The cost will be posted in a single transaction as a finished item.

Consumed item/Link to order

If you select the Consumed item/Link to order method, you can link the project to an item requirement. Using this method, you will be able to view actual project costs when the production has a status of Started or is reported as Finished. The cost will be posted as multiple project item transactions for raw materials and hours consumed for the production. When the packing slip is updated for the item requirement, no project costs are posted. It is possible to define to which level in the BOM hierarchy that the projects in the production should be tracked. You can create the hierarchy by selecting the check box and setting the to production in the form. This will create the subproductions for your hierarchy.

Consumed item/No link to order

If you select the Consumed item/Link to order method, you can link the project to an item requirement. Using this method, you will be able to view actual project costs when the production has a status of Started or is reported as Finished. The cost will be posted as multiple project item transactions for raw materials and hours consumed for the production. Note Note

The consumed item method does not support indirect costs and standard costs.
