To use the validation feature, you must set up Microsoft Dynamics AX as follows:

• Create the appropriate validation groups for category/employee, project/employee, and project/category.

• Combine projects, employees, and categories as needed within each of the validation groups. For more information, see Set up validation groups.

• Set up connections between individual employees, categories, and projects or add individual employees, categories, and projects to validation groups. For more information, see Define validation connections.

• Set up parameters for category/employees, project/categories, and project/employees. These parameters enable validation definitions to be set up for employees, categories, and projects. The parameters also determine if entries other than those that are displayed should be accepted. For more information, see Set up validation parameters.

• Enable validation parameters for individual projects or employees. Specify if the overall validation setup, including parameter setup, should be applied for this particular project or employee. For more information, see Enable validation parameters.
