User dialog box

Define settings that control the different types of output from an item configuration session: how the form will be displayed, how the sales price will be calculated, whether modeling-enabled items will be displayed on a separate tab while selecting item number for the order or quotation, and what type of notes and graphic documents will be generated by a configuration session.

Code generator

Select the layer on which the product model code will be generated by the system.

Approval

Define the settings that control the process of approving item configurations: whether the bill of materials (BOM) price calculation will be run automatically (if BOM price calculation is used), and whether a delivery date will be calculated automatically. Modeling variables that have been made invisible in the form can be made to appear in the approval form (for confirmation). You can also specify that the system should try to reuse previously saved configurations when configuring new items.

Display

Select which kind of information will be displayed next to BOM nodes and Route nodes in the modeling tree.

Composed of

Specify the contents of the Composed ofreport.

Number sequences

Set up number sequences for various Product Builderfunctions.

Show user dialog box as tree structure

Select to have variable groups shown as a tree structure. Otherwise, they will be shown on tab pages.

If your product models are using variable groups in more than two levels, this check box must be selected in order to make all levels visible to the user. The tab page format cannot show variable groups on more than two levels.

Sales price calculation

Select to calculate the sales price for a product model configured item using a standard BOM price calculation.

Otherwise, the price will be calculated on the basis of the product model's price combination setup. Product model price combinations can be created and maintained under Product Builder> Product models> Setup> Price combinations.

Generate documents of type

Specify the type of notes, with configuration details, that will be generated by your product models. Then you will have configuration details printed on all sales or purchase forms that use the same document type.

Lookup method

Select a lookup method for item numbers on sales order line:

• Configurable– When you select items in the order or quotation lines, the lookup form is split into two tab pages:

  • Configurable itemsfor modeling–enabled items only.

  • All items.

• Default– The item lookup in the order or quotation lines is shown with all items on one tab page.

Generate graphic documents of type

Select the document type that will be generated for graphics and available for printing from the order or quotation line.

Note
To use Inbox and Outbox document types, Microsoft Dynamics AX must be synchronized with Microsoft Outlook.

Layer

Select the layer on which code will be generated. If the current layer differs from the one selected here, you will not be able to compile the product model.

Automatic price calculation

Select if you want the price calculation performed automatically during item configuration and the price displayed in the approval form. This parameter is relevant only if you are using the standard BOM price calculation.

Automatic calculation of delivery date

Select if you want the delivery date calculated automatically whenever the approval form is shown.

Show all variables

Select to see the hidden modeling variables in the approval form during configuration.

Reuse configurations

Select from the following options:

• Always– The system will perform a search for similar, previously configured BOMs and routes whenever an item configuration is carried out. If such a configuration is found, it will be reused for the item being configured.

  Note
  The first found configuration will be reused.

• Prompt– The user will be prompted to reuse an existing configuration if it is found.

• Never– Any existing configurations will be ignored. A new configuration will be always created for the item being configured.
