Features enabled by the Business Connector Internet Information Server key

Areas affected

Comments

Controls access to Microsoft Internet Information Services, which is the Windows Server Web service for hosting Web applications and Web sites.

When this key is enabled, members of the user group can access Microsoft Dynamics AX data and code using the Business Connector feature.

If this key is disabled, Microsoft Dynamics AX functionality can still be accessed using a local application such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel, and Business Connector.

Remarks

Enable Business Connector security keys for user groups that access Microsoft Dynamics AX directly using one of the following types of applications:

  • Microsoft Visual Studio add-ins, including the Enterprise Portal and Reporting add-ins for Visual Studio

  • Third-party applications that connect to MSDAX directly using Business Connector

Do not enable Business Connector security keys for user groups that only access Microsoft Dynamics AX using the Business Connector proxy. In previous versions of Microsoft Dynamics AX, you were required to enable Business Connector security keys so user groups could access Enterprise Portal and the Application Integration Framework. You are no longer required to enable the Business Connector security key for users that access Microsoft Dynamics AX using the Business Connector proxy.
