There is only one configuration key for the Application Integration Framework (AIF), and it is tied to the AIF license key. Therefore, you cannot disable the AIF configuration key.

There is also only one configuration key to Application Integration Framework Web Services, and it is tied to the AIFWebService license key. Therefore, you cannot disable the AIFWebService configuration key either.

The AIFWebService license key builds on the AIF license key and both are required in order to use AIF Web services.

Intercompany

If the Intercompany configuration key has been enabled, you can to exchange documents electronically in the application among the internal companies. The AIF license key is not required to set up and use the intercompany functionality in Microsoft Dynamics AX.

External companies

You can exchange electronic documents among external companies without enabling the AIF license key.

Regardless of the license key (AIF or Intercompany), the endpoints must be configured and set up to enable exchange of electronic documents.

AIF menu structure

Because the AIF setup menu structure (in Basic > Periodic > AIF) must be available to applications that have any combination of these two keys, it is registered on the LogisticsBasic configuration key.

Security keys

The security keys for the Application Framework Integration set up are BasicPeriodic and BasicSetup.
