Description

A unique user-defined code that is assigned when an item is created. It is recommended that you not use special characters or spaces in the item number. Note that item numbers can be system generated by linking the item number to a Number sequences (form).

Item names are written in different languages and printed on external documents or forms. Item names are specified through Language - Item description (form). The customer's and supplier's language codes determine which text are retrieved in, respectively, and .

Specify a name to use for search purposes if the item number or name is not well-suited for searching.

When the item name is created, it is copied to the field (without spaces or special characters), but it can be overwritten.

NoteBecause Search namesare indexed, searches are faster when they are done on Search names, rather than on Item names, which are not indexed.

All items must belong to an item group, which is assigned when items are created. Item groups are defined in Item group (form)

Item groups are used in conjunction with ledger transactions, and can be used as printing criteria.
