Use this form to create and manage allocation terms for an account. You can define allocation terms for realized transactions in the form and for budget transactions in the form.

To activate the allocation terms for an account, select the field on the tab for the account in the form.


Example

Suppose that ten percent of the revenue that is posted on every sales order should be allocated as a royalty payment. To achieve this allocation, set up an allocation term that allocates ten percent of every sales line that is posted to a particular account to a royalty account.

You also can use allocation terms to share a particular expense evenly between two departments. Set up the account for the expense by using a ledger posting to one of the department dimension values. Then set up an allocation term for the account, and indicate on the tab that 50 percent of each entry is posted to the other department dimension value.

Navigating the form

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Overview tab

Create and view allocation terms for the selected account. The allocation terms are set up by percentages. After all of the lines are calculated and allocated, any remaining amount is posted to the selected account.

General tab

View information for the allocation terms line that is selected on the tab.

When you open the form from the form, you can set up the frequency to generate budget allocation transactions.

Dimension tab

Select the dimension values to allocate from and to for the selected allocation line.

Enter the percentage of the amount to allocate to the specified account.

Enter the date to transfer the transaction to the budget ledger.

Select this check box to exclude the created budget transaction from allocations.

Select the ledger account for the current allocation.

Limit the allocation to the selected dimension. When you search for allocations, all lines where the dimension is empty or where the allocation matches a specific line are included.
