Use this form to create and manage the journals that are used to manually post transactions to measurements. The purpose of a measurement journal is as follows:

  • To post transactions that cannot be updated automatically.

  • To correct errors in existing transactions.

Tasks that use this form

Validating Measurement journals

Before you post a journal, you can click to verify that there are no errors. According to the of journal, validation checks whether:

  • Posting to the using journals is allowed.

  • The is active.

  • The journal line has been approved.

  • The is correctly set up.

  • The line's voucher number is unique.

  • There are transactions in the measurement's previous periods.

  • The lines starting date is the same as that of the next period indicated in the .

  • All transactions in the period have been settled.

  • The end date on the line is the same as the period's end date.

  • Vouchers to be settled have already been settled.

  • The value in the journal line matches that in the voucher to be settled.

  • All vouchers in the period have been settled.

  • There are journal lines relating to the same in different .

Navigating the form

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Edit or view the name and ID of the journal, its description, and if it is posted. You can also indicate whether to delete journal lines after posting.

View the ID of the person who reported the journal as ready, and the ID of the person who approved or rejected the journal.

Depending on your role, and whether the approval procedure is opened for the journal, you can continue as follows:

Select the measurement journal name.

Tip Tip

When selecting a name, verify whether an approval procedure has been activated on for the name. Approval procedures for names are activated by selecting the check box on the tab of the Measurement journal names (form).


The automatically assigned identification of the journal. This number is determined according to the setting in the Human Resource parameters (form).

Type a description of the journal.

Indicates whether the journal line has been posted.

Displays the date on which the journal line was posted.

Select this check box if you want to delete the journal lines after you posting.

If the journal has been reported as ready, this box displays the user ID of the user who reported it as being ready.

If the journal has been approved, this box displays the user ID of the user who gave the approval.

If the journal has been rejected, this box displays the user ID of the user who rejected the journal.
