Use this form to check the maximum quantity that can be reported as finished before on-hand inventory starts to show as negative in the field of the bill of materials (BOM).

Navigating the form

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Description

View the BOM item and its inventory items. Enter the quantity and explosion settings. Depending on the explosion settings, different quantities are displayed in the field.

Overview tab

View the BOM header and BOM lines. The header is the top line in the grid.

Each BOM line contains:

  • The quantity of items in the specified unit that is required to produce the quantity of the BOM item that you specified in the section. This field is updated when you update the field in the field group.

  • The amount of current on-hand inventory for the item.

  • The maximum number of units of the BOM that can be reported as finished with regard to on-hand, and the quantity required for completion of one BOM item.

Select an item configuration to specify an item with specific attributes.

Specifies the size of the item.

Specifies the color of the item.

Indicates the site with which the BOM version is associated.

Indicates the warehouse where the BOM is stored.

Enter the batch number dimension. If you select and in the upper section of the or form, you can modify the batch number for the transfer order line.

Location inside a warehouse. If you select and in the upper section of the or form, you can modify the location number for the transfer order line.

Serial number dimension. If you select and in the upper section of the or form, you can modify the serial number for the transfer order line.

Enter the quantity that you want to report as finished. The field is populated automatically if you filled in the field in the or form.

There are three options to choose from in this field:

  • Never – underlying BOMs are not exploded when there is a material shortage.

  • Always – all underlying BOMs are fully exploded. Any free on-hand inventory for semi-finished component items is not used.

  • When shortage – underlying BOMs are only exploded if the quantity of the material that you want is not fully available. Note that if the semi-finished item is partially available, only the remaining items are exploded to the underlying levels.

The BOM automatically displays the number of any active BOM for the current item. Optionally, you can select an active BOM from the list.

The item number is marked when the item on the line is a part of the BOM item on the first line. The item can be an item-, service-, or BOM-type item.

The standard reporting-as-finished quantity on the first line, the access line, which is of the type . The field is populated automatically with the quantity that you entered in the field in the or form or with the value 1. The following lines show the component quantities, as defined in the BOM setup.

If you change the Quantityfield at the top of the dialog box in the group, that change will be reflected in the Quantityfield on the Overviewtab.

The quantity of available on-hand inventory at the warehouse.

The maximum that can be reported as finished for the BOM item without the available on-hand inventory at the warehouse becoming negative.

This field is marked when the line is an item that is used in a BOM item.
