Use this form to set up and maintain project journal names. The journal name setup is mandatory when new journals are created. The information that is specified for the journal name is inherited by the project journal.

Before you begin setting up your journal names, make sure that the voucher series you want to use is specified in the form.

View and change specific information for the active journal name. You can set the voucher information and date, set the approval and posting rules, and define to which group the journal is private (blocking).

Fields

Field

Description

Name for the journal. This name appears when the user selects a journal for posting.

Description of the journal.

Select a journal type. The journal type determines what the journal name is used for:

  • Hour journal names- available for selection in the hour registration window.

  • Fee journal names- available for selection in the fee registration window.

Select a voucher series to be used in journals with the current journal name attached. Voucher series are defined in the > .

Set up voucher numbers to be picked or drawn when posting or entering lines.

Specify if a new voucher should be picked when the voucher date changes, or when the employee entry changes.

The voucher date can be found as follows:

  • End date of the project period- The project period attached to the employee determines the voucher date.

  • End date of the ledger period- The current ledger period determines the voucher date.

  • Project date- The voucher date is identical to the project date entered on the journal line.

Define if transactions, when posted to the general ledger, should be posted as individual lines or summarized in a limited number of records.

Select this field to have journal lines deleted when posting is completed.

User group that the journal is private to.

Select a journal status. The journal status defines the approval procedure of journals with the current journal name.

Select this check box to turn on write access to the / fields in the form.

Select from the options in the drop-down list if sales transactions and purchase transactions entered in journals should be registered in sales tax book sections.
