External codes for an item are set up in Inventory management> Item details> Setup> External codes.

External item number

View the item number that is used by external entities to identify the item in question. For example, a vendor's item number designation as opposed to the company's own item number designation.

Bar code

Use the bar code to represent the item number as encoded information that is to be read by electronic readers.

Bar code definitions are set up in Basic> Setup> Bar code setup.

Bar codes for an item are set up in Inventory management> Item details> Setup> Bar codes.

Company item

Enter the common item identification within the intercompany organization.
