Refilling the current warehouse

When a main warehouse is selected as the source for refilling the current warehouse, the master schedule generates transfer orders.

When a coverage warehouse is specified instead of a main warehouse, the master scheduling process does not support refilling from the main warehouse. If you want to refill from a main warehouse, you must make active as an inventory dimension and select the check box in .

Select to have the requirements that are generated from the master scheduling process filled through planned transfer orders from the warehouse that is specified in the field. The planned transfer order is listed in the form as a type transfer, with the reference value . In the form, two transactions are generated: a to refill the current warehouse, and a for the main warehouse. When the is firmed, a transaction is generated in the selected transfer journal. In the form, the references for the two transactions are changed to . In , a receipt transaction with the status , and an issue transaction with the status are generated for the relevant warehouses. When the transfer journal is posted, the statuses are changed to and , respectively.

Main warehouse and master scheduling

is used with master scheduling. If you specify a main warehouse for your current warehouse and select the check box, then all issues are fulfilled by planned transfer orders at this warehouse. By specifying a main warehouse without selecting the check box, you create a hierarchical structure of warehouses. This is necessary because otherwise you cannot specify specific rules for item coverage.

The following table shows the levels of the warehouses, their names, and their main warehouse, and in parentheses, other possible main warehouses that are further down the hierarchy.

Examples

  • Warehouses can only refill from warehouses at a lower level. This is to prevent circularity.

For example, C2 can be refilled only by B and A because D, E1, and E2 are on higher warehouse levels.

  • A warehouse can be a refilling warehouse for more than one warehouse further up the hierarchy.

For example, B can directly refill C1 and C2.

  • A warehouse cannot be refilled by two warehouses.

For example, D cannot be refilled by both C1 and C2.

  • You cannot select a main warehouse that can be fulfilled by the warehouse itself.

  • Another reason to specify the main warehouse is that when a planned production or purchase order is changed to a planned transfer order, the main warehouse is the default-from warehouse.

  • On the tab, you can define a coverage warehouse for the current warehouse. You can also define a warehouse as a refilling inventory warehouse, for which planned transfer orders are regenerated from a main warehouse during master scheduling.

  • A transit warehouse is a part of the hierarchy of warehouses of the type. It is important to know that two warehouses on the same level cannot use the same transit warehouse.
