Use this form to view the settings for the data fields in a document and to enable or disable each field for an action on an endpoint.

When data is exchanged with an external system, not all the fields in a document may be necessary or allowed. For example, if your installation does not need the information in the price per pound field, that field can be ignored when a document is received from an endpoint.

Fields

Field

Description

The field name for data elements in the document. These data elements are defined in the document schema.

Select this check box to enable the field to be transferred in documents that are exchanged with the endpoint.

  • For outbound actions, only enabled fields are included in the outbound document.

  • For inbound actions, only enabled fields can be submitted by the endpoint. If a document is received that includes fields that are not enabled for this endpoint, schema validation fails, a warning is issued, and the document is rejected.

Select this check box to indicate a required field. Required fields can be enabled only if the document is being received. In that case, these rules apply:

  • For fields that are identified as mandatory by the document class, the check box is selected and you cannot change it. Mandatory fields are fields that, if not provided in the inbound message, prevent the document class from writing the record.

  • For fields that are not mandatory, the check box is cleared by default but you can select it. This specifies that the field is required by the document but it is not mandatory to create or update data in the database.

When the document action is anything other than inbound, the check box is cleared and cannot be selected.
