Use the Translation ledger account rulesform to set up ledger account translation rules. These rules are used to correlate source company accounts to target company accounts, and include currency and dimension conversion rules.

  1. Click General ledger> Setup> Translation> Ledger account rulesto open the Translation ledger account rulesform.

  2. In the Rule groupfield, select the translation group for which account conversion rules are being configured.

    Note Note

    You can set several conversion rules for one translation group.


  3. On the Overviewtab, in the To accountfield, select the ledger account from the target company's account chart to which the source company's transactions are to be translated.

  4. In the Account namefield, view the ledger account name of the target company.

  5. In the Account numberfield, select the ledger account from the source company from which transactions are to be translated to the target company.

    Note Note

    Depending on your entries in the Creditingand Offset accountfields, the following will be translated:


    • All transactions.

    • Only debit account transactions.

    • Only credit account transactions.

    • Account transactions in correspondence with the given account.

    • Debit account transactions in correspondence with the given credit offset account.

    • Credit account transactions in correspondence with the given debit offset account.

  6. In the Creditingfield, select the type of transactions to be translated from the following options:

    • No– Translate only debit account transactions.

    • Yes– Translate only credit account transactions.

    Note Note

    Leave the field blank to translate both credit and debit transactions.


  7. In the Offset accountfield, select the source company's offset account.

    Note Note

    Leave this field blank to select transactions with any offset account.


  8. In the Currency groupfield, select the currency conversion group code.

    Note Note

    If the translation rule group that is selected in the Rule groupfield has the default currency group configured, it is inserted automatically. If necessary, it can be changed.


  9. In the Dimension groupfield, select the dimension conversion group code.

    Note Note

    If the translation rule group that is selected in the Rule groupfield has the default dimension group selected, it is inserted automatically. If necessary, it can be changed.


  10. In the Priorityfield, enter the priority of the rule that is being configured.

    Note Note

    If the translation rule group that is selected in the Rule groupfield has the default priority selected, it is inserted automatically. If necessary, it can be changed. The priority determines the order of rule processing during translation. The first to be processed is the rule with the lowest priority.


  11. Click the Generaltab.

  12. In the Posting typefield, select the required voucher type to translate only transactions with a particular voucher type. For example, when Petty cashis selected in the Posting typefield, only transactions in the bank module are translated.

  13. In the Posting typefield, select the required voucher type to translate only transactions with a particular voucher type for the offset account.

  14. In the Posting layerfield, select the type of transaction to translate only transactions with a specified accounting type.

  15. In the Only reversing entryfield, select Yesto translate only reversing transactions and Noto translate regular transactions.

    Note Note

    Leave the field blank to translate both regular and reversing transactions.


  16. In the To posting layerfield, select the accounting type that the translated transactions will be assigned in the target company.

  17. Click Initializeto open the Initializeform, and then click Selectto set up the selection criteria.

  18. Click OKto automatically create a line with an account translation rule for all of the target company's ledger accounts.

  19. Press CTRL+S or close the form.
