The following periodic activities are related to usual calculation of costs and quantities:

• Period calculationis used to calculate the cost balances according to all Calculation versionsmarked as target in the Setup> Calculation> Calculation versionsform. Only one period calculation per period is saved and the previous calculation is deleted.

• Special calculationresembles the Period calculation. The only difference is that you can use different Calculation versionsand each period calculation is saved and registered in the Special calculation queryform. This means that you can rerun the calculation at a later point in time.

There are also periodic activities related to the transfer of transactions from other modules. Transfer of transactions is especially useful when you start working with the Cost accountingmodule. Transactions may already exist in other modules and you may have to transfer them to the Cost accountingmodule. It is also useful when you add a dimension for a cost category to create additional transactions for this dimension. The following activities in Cost accounting> Periodic> Transactionsare used to transfer transactions:

• Process ledger transactionsimports transactions from the General ledgermodule

• Process production transactionsimports transactions from the Productionmodule

• Process project transactionsimports transactions from the Projectmodule

Select the Rebuild transactionscheck box if you want to rebuild all transactions. If this check box is cleared, only new transactions are imported to the Cost accountingmodule.

• Apply transactions from previous cost accountingis used to re-import the transactions from a previous Cost accountingmodule. For more information, see Import historic transactions.

The following periodic activities are used for recalculation of costs when you use cost splitting. If the cost splitting of the cost category is changed, you must recalculate costs.
