Changing the data on the form with specific reference to campaigns does not impact the campaign on which the activity is based; however, changes to the actual campaign generally do impact the associated activity.

If you create a campaign and do not specify a person to be responsible for the campaign, a campaign follow-up activity is not created. This is regardless of the value in the field in the tab on the form.

If you specify a person to be responsible for the campaign at a later date, the value in the field takes effect. Depending on the value in this field, an activity is created automatically, a dialog box asks if you want to create an activity, or an activity is not created.

Changing the campaign stage

If you change the campaign stage to or , or if all the campaign targets are in the stage , the campaign follow-up activity will automatically be closed. But if some campaign target activities have not been closed (because some of the campaign targets have not responded yet), you can either:

  • Close the campaign anyway, in which case you will also close follow-up activities that are connected to the campaign and follow-up activities that are connected to the campaign targets.

  • Keep the campaign active, which will also keep the campaign target activities open.

If you change a campaign that is in the or stage to , or , the campaign follow-up activity will be re-opened.

Deleting the campaign

If you delete a campaign, the campaign follow-up activity is automatically deleted.

Changing the follow-up date

If you change the follow-up date of the campaign, the start date of the campaign follow-up activity also changes. The start date of any campaign target activities does not change.

Changing the person who is responsible for the campaign

If you change the person who is responsible for the campaign to another employee, the newly assigned employee becomes responsible for the campaign follow-up activity.

If the campaign follow-up activity has previously been synchronized with Microsoft Outlook, the campaign follow-up activity is deleted and the synchronization log is set to delete the old campaign follow-up activity upon the next synchronization with Microsoft Outlook. A new campaign follow-up activity is then created for the new campaign responsible.

If you delete the person who is responsible for the campaign, the campaign follow-up activity is deleted.

No campaign targets

If there are no campaign targets or if all campaign targets have been set to the stage, the campaign follow-up activity will be closed.
