Product groups are used to present items in a way that is suitable for the Internet. Following is a description of how the form is built up.

Product groups (the upper pane)

In the upper pane, you create the product groups. You can add new product groups by pressing CTRL+N. In the field, you can define the group either as a or an .

The type is used to generate the overall structure, but the actual items from the inventory list are attached to the type. The top node field indicates whether the or the is a top node - that is, the highest level in a hierarchy. If a filter icon appears in the selection field, a selection criterion for the (only available for items nodes) has been defined in the form. Click , in the form to open the form.

The lower pane

What you see in the lower pane depends on whether a or an is chosen in the upper pane. You typically select a top node in the upper pane (product groups). When you create a top node, you have to add relations within the top node. Because the top node is usually a group node (unless you only have one level), you can only create component groups in the lower pane.

Component groups are actually product groups that you want to have reside within the selected in the upper pane. When you add component groups to a , by pressing CTRL+N in the lower pane, you can only select components groups that are available as product groups in the upper pane. This can be either group nodes or item nodes. When the relations to a product group of the type are created, the layout of the bottom pane automatically changes to one in which all items that are attached to the current are created. You add items to the either by pressing CTRL+N and then selecting the item from the field or by adding items by clicking as described earlier.

Where do items and groups belong?

In the product group pane (the upper pane), you can click the tab to see which product group the selected product group belongs to in the tree hierarchy. On the , you get a graphic illustration of the tree structure from the current node and downward in the hierarchy. By default, the first subordinate level is displayed, but you can open and close additional levels by clicking the + and - symbols to the left of the node.

Presentations of the product groups and the items

You can attach to product groups and to items by using the two buttons to open the form. In the form, you can add text and an image to each product group and item.

Note Note

Always remember to click if you add or change the screen. Otherwise, the internal structures of Microsoft Dynamics AX are not updated.
