An e-mail template is based on an e-mail ID.

If you want to create e-mail templates in different languages, you create the number of template versions that you need based on one e-mail ID and assign the language codes required to each template.

Create an e-mail template

  1. Click > > .

  2. Press CTRL+N to create a new e-mail ID or select an existing ID. If you create a new ID, a new line is created in the lower pane of the form and the e-mail ID is automatically repeated in the field.

  3. Create more lines in the lower pane of the form to create templates in different languages. For each template version, enter the following information:

    1. The e-mail ID is automatically entered in the field based on the ID that you created.

    2. In the field, enter the language code.

    3. In the E-mail layout field , select either or , depending on how you want your e-mail message to display.

  4. Click to open an editor. Depending on your selection in the field, an XSLT editor or a standard e-mail editor (HTML) is loaded.

Note Note

The default language code on the e-mail ID determines what template is applied when the user has set a language for which there are no templates available.

Tip Tip

A set of merge-data elements can be added in the e-mail template. The merge-data element can be merged into the body text and the subject line of the e-mail template. If, for example, you add the %subject% data element, the actual value of %subject% is merged into the e-mail message when it is sent. For more information, see the merge data overview in Set up alert e-mail templates in HTML.
