To use the dimension posting control that is inherent in dimension set hierarchies, you must create dimension sets.

Prerequisites

  1. Activate the dimension set and dimension set hierarchy functionality:

    1. Click > > > .

    2. Expand the tree node and select the check box.

  2. Select a number sequence for dimensions. If the number sequence is not already selected:

    1. Click > > .

    2. On the tab, select a number sequence for the reference value .

Create a parent set

  1. Click > > > .

  2. In the upper pane, press CTRL + N to create a line for a dimension set.

  3. In the field, enter a unique identifier for the dimension set.

  4. In the field, enter a brief description of the dimension set.

  5. On the tab, drag the dimensions for the dimension set from the pane to the pane, starting with the dimension of highest priority in the dimension set.

For example, if the dimension is listed first, and the dimension second, the dimension is dependent on the dimension.

  6. Press CTRL+S to save the composition of the set.

Create a subset

  1. Repeat step 1 to 3 in the procedure above.

  2. On the tab, drag the dimension from the pane to the pane.

  3. On the tab, select the parent set. In the pane, select the dimension of the parent set that rules the subset, either or .

    For example, you have:

    • Dimension sets / and / .

    • The / is a subset of / .

In this case, select in the pane.

  4. Press CTRL+S to save the composition of the dimension set. When the dimension set is saved, the check box is automatically selected.

When the dimension sets are created, you can create dimension set hierarchies for each dimension set in the lower pane of the form and set up the structure of each dimension set hierarchy in the form, as described in Create dimension set hierarchies.

Finally, if you want to achieve even more precise control in the posting of dimension values, you can set up dimension set rules in the form, as described in Create dimension set rules.
