Note Note

The values from the selected financial statement are proposed in the fields as default, but you can overwrite them.

Example

On March 5, you have closed your accounts for February and are ready to report accumulated figures for the first two months of this year to management. The dynamic date interval, 'Current quarter,' includes all transactions that have been posted. This interval includes March 5, but what you need are the figures for the closed months of the quarter — a report that includes only transactions until February 28.

You could manually enter the date interval January 1 to February 28 in each column of the report columns, but this would be time consuming if you have columns for current amounts, budget amounts, and perhaps must repeat these steps for several companies in the same report. It would be easy to accidentally enter a wrong date in some columns.

Instead, enter February 28 in the field. Then, only postings in January and February are included in the financial statement.

Enter a reference date for the period. This date will act as the system date for the report, and date intervals like 'Current year' or 'Prior year' that are defined on the tab will use the reference date and be adjusted accordingly. For example, the system date is February 2006, 'Current year' is defined as date interval, and you enter November 15, 2005 in the field. 'Current year' will be 2005 instead of 2005. If you leave both this field and the field empty, the system date determines how the dynamic date intervals work.
