Font

Examples

This setting allows you to specify substitutes for Dexterity's standard fonts. The substituted fonts will be displayed in windows and printed on reports.

This setting is appropriate to use with Windows NT 3.51. In most cases, it should not be used in Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0.

Syntax

Fontfont_name=new_font_name

Parameters

font_name - The name of one of Dexterity’s standard fonts: Arial, Courier New or Times New Roman. Include any spaces that are part of the font name; however, there should be no space between the literal prefix Font and the font name.

new_font_name - The name of a subsitute font.

Comments

This setting is intended primarily for use with applications developed for use in Central and Eastern European countries. It allows Dexterity to display and print text using fonts containing the special characters used in this locale.

Dexterity uses the following typefaces, for which you may assign substitutes:

[spacer]

Font

Usage

Arial

Used when Helvetica is specified in the Font property of a field or static text object.

Courier New

Used for printing text reports to the screen.

Used when Courier is specified in the Font property of a field or static text object.

Used for printing when there is no suitable printer font, or when the Tolerance defaults file setting is set to -1.

Times New Roman

Used when Times or Normal is specified in the Font property of a field or static text object.

System

Used when System is specified in the Font property of a field or static text object.

Helv

Used for static text on buttons.

In order to assure that Dexterity uses the correct fonts for text reports, you also may need to include the Tolerance setting in the defaults file and set its value to -1. This is necessary if the special characters used in the locale are not available in the printer's built-in font set. Refer to the description of the Tolerance setting for more information.
