Synchronizing a dictionary should be performed if a field's data type has changed, or if a data type's control type has changed. A field's data type reference is stored with the window, table, key, report and system variable resources for faster processing. If the data type changes, synchronizing the dictionary will ensure all references are correct. The procedure also recalculates the buffer sizes for tables and windows. Open an editable dictionary, then choose Synchronize from the Utilities menu.
