Use the Formularules to set up a specific fixed or calculated value for the variable. The calculations are performed every time that the variables in the calculation are changed.

1. Repeat the first six steps described in the Create validation rule.

2. Select the Formula setuptab.

3. In the Variablefield, select the variable name.

4. If the selected variable belongs to the array group, type its index in the Indexfield.

5. In the Typefield, select one of the following:

   • Value– If you want the variable to receive a specific value.

   • Calculated– If you want the variable value to be calculated according to a specific formula.

6. If you selected Value, select one of the variable's values in the Outcomesfield. If you selected Calculated, click Calculatedto create a formula.

7. Select the Recalculatecheck box if you want all the rules that contain the selected variable to be recalculated.
