You can create alert rules from within any form in Microsoft Dynamics AX or from the form.
If the form with the data that you want to monitor is open, you can also create rules by selecting the Create alert rulecommand on the Commandmenu.
Create a rule from within a form

Open the form that contains the data that you want to monitor.

Right-click the field for which you want to set up an alert rule, or right-click anywhere in the form, and click .

On the Commandmenu, click .

Select the field that you want to monitor in the list.

Select the event type in the list.

Select an option in the section.

If you want the alert rule to become inactive on a specific date, select an end date in the section.
For more information, see End date and no end date options.

Enter an optional message in the field. The text is the message you receive when an alert is triggered.
Example: Create an alert rule for postponement of a delivery date

Click > Common Forms> .

On the tab, right-click the field and select .

In the form, select in the list.
When you close the form, your rule appears in the form.
Example: Create an alert rule for new sales orders

On the Commandmenu, click .

In the form, select in the field.
When you close the form, your rule appears in the form.
Create a rule by using the Manage alert rule form
When you create an alert rule from within a form, the form also opens, and you can then create additional alerts for the same form.

In the form, click , and then click the form name that appears in the submenu.
Create a rule by using a template
If you base your alert rules on a predefined template, you do not need to decide on all the details of the alert rule setup.

Click Microsoft Dynamics AXmenu > Tools> .

Click , and then click or press CTRL+N. A list of all available company-specific templates will be displayed.

Select the template that you want to use, and then click OK.

In the form, select the appropriate options in the and sections.
