In the form you can choose to use the date of receipt of goods when you reserve batches.

When you create order lines with automatic reservation, you can consider the date of receipt of items from the vendor when you reserve batches.

You can choose to reserve batches with the first date of receipt (FIFO) which ensures that the goods that should be received first are reserved first.

You can also choose to reserve batches with the date of receipt closest to the sales order delivery date (DATE LIFO and backward from delivery date) which ensures that the latest received batches are reserved first.

Date-controlled and Backward from delivery date check boxes (Setup tab)

If you select the check box on the form, the inventory reservation is made according to a sorting date by using the first in, first out (FIFO) principle. If you also select the check box, the inventory reservation is made by using the last in, first out (LIFO) principle, backward from the desired delivery date. If no receipts are available before the delivery date a FIFO reservation is used.

Example

Below are three purchase order lines with three different delivery dates:

A sales order that should be auto reserved and delivered 04-04-2002 reserves the following batch:

  1. Both the and check boxes are cleared: Batch 1000 is reserved because it is the batch with the lowest number.

  2. The check box is selected and the check box is cleared: Batch 1001 is reserved because it is the batch with the first date of receipt (FIFO).

  3. Both and check boxes are selected: Batch 1002 is reserved because it is the batch receipt closest to the sales order delivery date (DATE LIFO).
