The Gantt chart displays a graphical overview of the current production plan that is scheduled for the selected work center or production order. You can manually reschedule the production by using Gantt chart functionality. You can perform the following scheduling tasks:

Reschedule a work center

Reasons to reschedule a work center may include the following:

  • If orders are scheduled over a period of time, the sequence of operations for a particular item may no longer be practical or optimal.

  • If a particular work center is becoming a constraint, you may want to move some of the scheduled jobs or operations to a different work center.

To reschedule a work center:

  1. Click > Common Forms> . Select a work center group, and then click . Select a work center, and then click .

  2. In the dialog box, enter a start date and an end date to define the time period that you want to view in the Gantt chart. Click OK.

  3. In the Gantt chart, select a job and right-click, and then click .

  4. The form opens, and you can reschedule the work center. After rescheduling, you can make additional manual changes in the Gantt chart.

Note Note

You can use this procedure to reschedule only those jobs that actually load a work center, such as setup and process jobs.

Reschedule a job or operation

When you view the load histogram, you may notice that a particular work center has become a bottleneck. You can manually adjust the jobs that are scheduled for the work center in order to optimize the available capacity. To reschedule a job or operation from the Gantt chart:

  1. Select a job.

  2. In the calendar grid, use the drag-and-drop method to move the job load to an available time slot.

  3. Click the button to check how the change affects the existing schedule. The program displays an Infolog that either confirms that the changes are possible or gives information about scheduling issues that are caused by the change.

  4. The scheduling issue may be acceptable if you intend to make manual changes to the schedule afterward, or if for example, you make arrangements with the shop floor personnel to accommodate the change.

If the scheduling issue is acceptable, click the button to save the rescheduling change.

  5. Rescheduling a work center can also cause disruptions with connected jobs. To realign the connected jobs that are affected by the change:

    • Right-click the job, and then select to automatically reschedule the preceding job.

    • Right-click the job, and then select to automatically reschedule the subsequent job.

  6. Click the button to save the changes.

Reschedule an order

You may want to reschedule an order if, for example, a customer requests a different shipping date. To reschedule an order from the Gantt chart, select a job and right-click, and then click . The form opens. From there, you can open the form and reschedule the production order.

Cancel a scheduling change

You may want to simulate various scheduling scenarios and then cancel changes that do not give optimal or acceptable results. To cancel a manual scheduling change, click the button.
