You can define a setup for each line property. Line properties are set up with a Table-Group-All relation to projects and categories. This means that the line property that is applied when you enter a transaction in a journal is collected on the basis of a search for the most specific criterion.
At first, the system searches for a combination with a specific project and a specific category, and if this combination is not found, the search continues with the priorities listed in the following table. The least specific combination is the All/All combination.
When journal lines are entered, the system searches for a line property that matches the specified project number and category. If no line properties are defined on the project or category, you must enter the line property manually for each hour, fee, expense, or item registration line.
Search according to project or category
You can specify whether the search for a line property should be by category or by project in the field on the tab in the form. When a new project is created, the line property is derived from the project group by default.
Search priority for line property
The following table shows the combination sequences that the system searches after the line-property setup is defined.
