Use reason codes to help keep track of a service order when it is updated to a new stage in the service order life cycle. For example, if you create a service stage for canceling status orders, it is useful to have a record of the reason for the cancellation. This can be specified with a reason code.
To extract information about reason codes that are used in relation to service order progress, run the Service order progress report. This report lists all service orders, regardless of their stage, and the reason codes that are specified when a service order stage has been updated.

Reason codes are optional. You can decide whether a service stage should prompt you for a reason code when you update a service order to another stage.
