The site entity is implemented in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 as an inventory storage dimension. If you set up one or more sites, and the multisite functionality is inactive, then the site dimension remains inactive for all dimension groups. However, when the multisite functionality is active, the following changes occur in the dimensions setup. These conditions support the use of the multisite functionality:

• The site dimension and warehouse dimension become active in all inventory dimension groups.

• The site dimension becomes mandatory, and a site value must appear on all inventory transactions.

The site dimension is also a consistent dimension. The consistent property ensures that the site value is kept the same for all inventory transactions that share the same Account referencenumber, including the source transaction.

When the multisite functionality is active, the Sitestorage dimension is configured as follows:

• The Activecheck box is selected, and it is unavailable because you can only activate the site dimension by using the Multisite Activation Wizard.

• The Mandatorycheck box is selected, and it is unavailable. You must specify the site dimension on all transactions when the multisite functionality is activated.

• The Primary stockingcheck box is selected, and it is unavailable. This setting ensures that reservations are made by site.

• The Physical inventorycheck box is selected, and it is unavailable. This setting ensures that on-hand inventory information is available by site.

• The Financial inventorycheck box is selected, and it is unavailable. This setting ensures that financial activities, such as inventory closing and cost accounting, are calculated by site.

• The Coverage plan by dimensioncheck box is selected by default. If you clear the check box, the program clears the corresponding check box for the Warehousedimension for the same dimension group.

• You can select the For purchase pricescheck box. However, if you clear the check box, the program clears the corresponding check box for the Warehousedimension for the same dimension group.

• You can select the For sales pricescheck box. However, if you clear the check box, the program clears the corresponding check box for the Warehousedimension for the same dimension group.

When the multisite functionality is active, the Warehousestorage dimension is configured as follows:

• The Activecheck box is selected, and it is unavailable because you must use the Warehousedimension when the multisite functionality is active.

• You can choose whether or not to select the Mandatorycheck box.

• The Blank receipt allowedcheck box is clear, and it is unavailable. This setting ensures that you specify a warehouse whenever you receive items into inventory.

• The Blank issue allowedcheck box is clear, and it is unavailable. This setting ensures that you specify a warehouse whenever you deduct items from inventory.

• The Coverage plan by dimensioncheck box is selected by default, but you can clear the check box. If the check box is clear, and you select the check box, the program selects the corresponding check box for the Sitedimension for the same dimension group.

• If you select the For purchase pricescheck box, the program selects the corresponding check box for the Sitedimension for the same dimension group.

• If you select the For sales pricescheck box, the program selects the corresponding check box for the Sitedimension for the same dimension group.
