Use this form to define available capacity for particular days and times in the attached calendar. Working times are attached to calendars that are associated with a work center or a work center group. You can define working times by entering times individually or by copying the information in the calendar and making relevant changes. Enter the typical work days and times used in your production, and also any consistent variations to these times such as holidays or weekends. To create a 24 hour work day, enter 00:00 in the field, and 24:00 in the field in the 24 hour calendar at the bottom of the form.

More on assigning efficiency rates and properties to Working times

  • Efficiency rate: Besides creating Working times, you can define an for the Work center or group. To specify a pause, enter 0 as the efficiency rate.

  • Properties: You can attach properties to working times for a selected period of time. When you do this, you ensure that only jobs with this property are run on the work center that uses this working time calendar. For example, if the calendar states that on Tuesdays from 2 to 4, the property has to be Red, this means that on Tuesdays the paint machines in this work center will only be set up to paint items red in the time period from 2 to 4.

Note Note

Working times are used when you run on production orders. They form the basis for the calculation of the start and stop times of individual jobs and operations.

Navigating the form

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Fields

Field

Description

The date operation time is updated.

Working time can be managed in the following ways:

  • If it is open, work is performed during the day. The calendar is updated according to the working time template.

  • If it is closed, it is not available during the day.

  • If the base calendar is used, it is updated according to the base calendar selected.

You should only set up working times that are ordinarily used.

Normal working times are created for those work centers found in the company's production system. Shifts, weekend work, and the like, can be created in the form of different times per day.

Additionally, known variance, such as holidays, should be created as separate working hours. That way you can record variance for the work centers associated with the working time applicable during the period of variance. An efficiency percentage can be associated with each working time.

Identifies the calendar.

Information about when the current capacity is available. Start time for the operation per weekday. For example, the start time can be 07:00:00 A.M. if that is the starting time for a day shift.

Information about when the current capacity is no longer available. End time for the operation time per weekday. For example, the end time can be 03:00:00 P.M. if that is the ending time for a day shift.

You can define the to be used when scheduling the interval in question: Scheduling time = time * 100/efficiency percentage.

Note Note

The time used in the formula includes both processing time and setup time. For example, if the efficiency percentage is 200, all scheduling times are halved. You can define the efficiency percentage for both operation time and work center. The capacity is then calculated based on the efficiency percentage of both the work center and the working time. You can use the efficiency percentage of operation times, for example, when various shifts have different efficiencies.

Properties are used in the scheduling and structuring of production. The idea is that different productions with the same properties can be run at the same time.

Example

A series of productions are to undergo the same painting operation, which is set up with a color in the spray-gun. In order to minimize setup time, productions that are to be sprayed that particular color can be combined. Pools and properties can help you manage the production. Pools and properties do not have to be used together. In other words, you can use pools without using properties, and vice versa. By using pools and properties at the same time, you can define a sorting criterion where production pools wait for productions with certain properties to be run. Assume that you have set up the pool sequence Pool 1, Pool 2, Pool 3, and so on. Each pool combines productions with identical properties. Before Pool 1 can proceed to Pool 2, productions with properties 1, 2, and 3 must be produced.
