Use this form to set up, edit, and view the quality groups that reflect common testing requirements for items. Items with common testing requirements can then be assigned to a quality group. After the common testing requirements have been defined (by using the ), the rules for automatically generating quality orders to perform the tests can be defined for a quality group (by using the ) rather than for individual items. Using quality groups simplifies the definition of rules for automatically generating quality orders.

Examples

A manufacturing company purchases several raw materials that have the same testing requirements for incoming inspection. The company defines a quality group and assigns the relevant item numbers to the quality group. The company defines the tests and a test group, assigns the tests to the test group, and defines the quality specifications for each test within the group. The company uses the quality group and the test group in defining the rule for automatically generating a quality order after posting a purchase order packing list, so that they enforce the testing requirements on every receipt of the raw materials.

The same manufacturing company also produces items with the same production testing requirements, and ships items with the same requirements for performing preshipment tests. The company defines two additional quality groups and assigns the relevant item numbers to each quality group. One quality group is used in defining the rules for automatically generating a quality order that is related to a production order. The other quality group is used in defining the rules for automatically generating a quality order that is related to a sales order.
