Use the bill of material (BOM) designer form to help you design BOM tree structures. You can create or edit BOM versions, and assign items or sub-BOMs to specific operations.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

A unique user-defined code that is assigned when items are created. We recommend that you not use special characters or spaces in the item number. Note that item numbers can be system-generated by linking the item number to the form. For more information, see Number sequences (form). |

Specify a name to use for search purposes if the item number or name would not work well for searching. |
|
All items must belong to an item group, which is assigned when items are created. Item groups are defined in the form. Item groups are used in conjunction with ledger transactions, and can be used as printing criteria. For more information, see Item group (form). |

Select the display principle to use for the tree structure window:
|
|
Enter the version date for the BOM and route. This is used to identify which BOM version is to be used on a specific date, as determined by the version dates in the BOM version setup. |
|
Enter the minimum quantity that is valid for this BOM version. When generating orders, the application automatically selects a BOM version, which is based on this and other criteria that you specify. If you leave the field blank, this BOM version is valid for all quantities. |

When selected, only valid BOM lines are displayed in the tree structure. Validity of BOM lines is determined by the validity dates for the BOM line. (To access, right-click or double-click the line.) |

When checked, item numbers are displayed on the BOM lines in the tree structure window. |
|
When checked, the configuration ID is displayed on the BOM lines in the tree structure window. |
|
When checked, item size is displayed on the BOM lines in the tree structure window. |

When checked, item color is displayed on the BOM lines in the tree structure window. |
