Project> Setup> Periods

Periods that are created as projects are applied to estimates, subscriptions, and employees.

Project periods are mandatory for estimates because the estimate frequency is based on a period code.
Periods are not mandatory information for employees. However, if you want to run the Time sheet missingreport, you must define a period type for employees.
Periods are required for invoicing subscriptions.

Project periods are mandatory information within the following areas of the program:

Estimates	Periods are applied for estimate creation; a period code must be selected when a new estimate is created in the Create estimate perioddialog box.
Time sheet missing	The Time sheet missingreport is created on the basis of a period type. To get an overview of missing time sheets, a period type must be defined for the employees.
Invoicing	Invoicing does not necessarily follow the period code interval defined for an employee. If the specified registration interval is one week and the invoicing is done monthly, a week often crosses over into the new month. That week must then be split.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tab	Description
Overview tab	View all the created project periods.
General tab	View specific information about the active project period.

Field	Description
Period type	Enter the code name of the current period type. The period type typically reflects the period frequency set up in the Period frequencyfield.
Description	Type a description of the period type.
Period frequency	Select the period frequency from the drop-down list.
Period type	Period code that is used as a reference.
Description	Description of period.
Period frequency	Specify how often hours should be registered.

Button	Description
Period transactions	Open the Period transactionsform for the active period to display the generated periods.
Generate periods	Create the period frequency dates in the system.
Update employee periods	Create new periods for the employees that are attached to the current period code. If no employees have the active project period attached, the button will be deactivated.
Employees	Open the Employeeform, which is filtered to display only the employees who are attached to the active project period. In this form, you can attach employees to the active project period.
