Use this form to create, view, modify, and delete additions for the fixed asset that is selected in the form. An addition is considered part of a fixed asset, but is not a separate asset. Typically, an addition is maintenance or an improvement for a fixed asset, such as a paint job, and is related to a write up adjustment. For example, an extra battery for a laptop is an addition to the laptop fixed asset.

You can use this form to keep track of additions separately, although they are still considered part of the asset. If the fixed asset number changes, all additions are still associated with the fixed asset. If you delete a fixed asset, the additions for that asset also are deleted.

Note Note

The fields in this form are informational and do not correspond to other areas of Microsoft Dynamics AX. For example, the fields do not correspond to purchase order documents in Accounts payable.

Tasks that use this form

Example

When reviewing purchases for the previous month, you see an invoice in the amount of 2,000 for a front-end loader for an existing forklift. A write up adjustment transaction was entered for the forklift in the amount of 2,000. This increased the net book value of the forklift.

To track the make, model, serial number, and other details for the front-end loader, you enter an addition in the form. This is for tracking and informational purposes only; the write up adjustment was posted already, and this addition does not increase the service life of the forklift.

Note Note

If an addition does increase the service life of a fixed asset, you must modify the field value in the form.

Description

The default addition number provided by the system. The number begins with 001 and is incremented automatically for each new record.

Before you save an addition for the first time, you can enter a different addition number, which can contain numbers, letters, or other characters. An addition number is required, and it must be unique.

Enter the date that you acquired the item or the job was performed.

Enter the cost of the item, maintenance, or other improvement.

Enter the number of items in the addition (required).

Some additions might be difficult to quantify, such as a paint job for a vehicle. Enter a quantity that fits best. For example, if an asset received one paint job, type 1.

Select the unit of measure for the item. You can leave this field blank if the unit cost is the cost for each item or each job.

The result of multiplying the unit cost by the quantity.

Select this check box if the addition increases the service life of the fixed asset.

Note Note

This field is informational only. To increase the service life, modify the field value in the form.
