Use this form to set up, edit, and view test groups and the individual tests that are assigned to a test group. The upper pane displays test groups, and the lower pane displays the tests that are assigned to a selected test group. You assign several policies to a test group, including a sampling plan, an acceptable quality level (AQL), and the requirement for destructive testing. When assigning an individual test to a test group, you define additional information, such as the sequence, the acceptable measurement values (for a quantitative test), the test variable and default outcome (for a qualitative test), documents, and validity dates.

The test group that is assigned to a quality order provides the initial basis for which tests need to be performed on the specified item, and tests can be added, deleted, or changed on the quality order. Test results are reported for each test on a quality order.

Examples

A manufacturing company defines a test group for each variation of its quality guidelines. The various test groups reflect differences in the sampling plans, the sets of tests that need to be performed together, the acceptable measurement values (for quantitative tests), the AQL, and other factors. The company enforces their quality guidelines by assigning a test group to each rule for automatically generating quality orders (in the form), and by assigning a test group to manually created quality orders.

Field

Description

Enter or view the identifier for a test group.

Enter or view the description for a test group.

Enter or view the AQL for the test group.

This AQL applies to the results for all tests within the test group. This overall AQL represents the percentage of tests that must pass when recording test results for a quality order.

Select or view the item sampling plan that applies to the group of tests. The sampling plan determines the quantity of items that need to be tested when you create a quality order.

Select the check box if the sample will be destroyed as part of the tests within the test group. With a destructive test, the creation of a quality order for an item will result in a system-generated inventory transaction that anticipates the inventory reduction for the test quantity. Completion of the quality order (through the validation step) will result in the inventory reduction. The inventory transaction is identified as a quality order.

Enter or view the sequence in which a test will be performed in a series of tests within a test group.

Enter or view the identifier for the test within the test group.

Enter, select, or view the valid from date and time for performing the test within the test group. The default is a null value, which represents the beginning of time.

Enter or view the valid to date and time for performing the test within the test group.

View or edit the document that is associated with the test within the test group. The icon indicates a book when a document has already been created.

Select the check box to indicate that the results of the test should be included on a certificate of analysis report. The certificate of analysis report can be generated for a quality order.

Select the action to take when a test fails to meet quality standards. If you select Accept, the quality order passes even if the individual test in the test group does not meet quality standards.

Select the action to take when a test fails to meet predefined quality standards. If you select Accept, the test passes even if the results did not meet quality standards.

Enter or view the AQL for the test within the test group.

Enter or view the ideal test result for a quantitative test. The value is used with the fields for minimum and maximum tolerance percentages. A reported test result within the tolerance percentages is considered a pass.

Enter or view the lower limit of a test result for a quantitative test. The field must have a lower value than the standard value. If you enter a minimum and a standard value, the system calculates the percentage in the field.

Enter or view the upper limit of a test result for a quantitative test. The field must have a higher value than the standard value. If you enter a maximum and a standard value, the system calculates the percentage in the field.

Enter or view the minimum tolerance percentage allowed for a quantitative test. If you enter a minimum tolerance percentage and a standard value, the system calculates a value for the field.

Enter or view the maximum tolerance percentage allowed for this test if the test type is Integer or Fraction. If you enter a maximum tolerance and a standard value, the system calculates a value for the field.

Select or view the variable to record test results for a qualitative test. You also need to identify the default outcome for the test. A qualitative test has a test type of option.

Select or view the variable's default outcome for a qualitative test.

Select or view the test instrument that will be used to conduct this test. The default value reflects the test instrument that is assigned to the test, but a different test instrument can be selected.

View the testing unit of measure for quality specifications and for reporting test results.
