Request for quote headers and lines have two statuses: lowest status and highest status. The request for quote header statuses depend on the statuses of the request for quotes line.

The hierarchical order of statuses is as follows:

The following example shows how the statuses of request for quote process change throughout the request for quote process.

Example

Create and process a request for quote that consists of two lines and has two vendors assigned.

Create and send the request for quote

Create a request for quote, and send it to two vendors.

  1. Create the request for quote header.

The lowest/highest statuses on the header are / .

  2. Add two lines.

The lowest/highest status on lines are / . The header status is / .

  3. Add a vendor.

  4. Send the request for quote to the vendor.

The lowest/highest statuses on lines are / , and the header status is / .

  5. Add one more vendor.

The lowest/highest statuses on lines are now / and / on the header because the request for quote has been sent to only one of the vendors.

    Note Note

You can always add more vendors to a request for quote. If, for example, the status is / , because you received request for quote replies and you accepted one reply, the lowest/highest statuses on the header change to / when you add a new vendor, and the lowest status on the lines will change to .

  6. Send the request for quote to the second vendor.

The lowest/highest statuses on lines are now / and / on the header.

    Note Note

The lowest status on the request for quote header only changes from to when the request for quote has been sent to all vendors assigned to it.

Receive and register replies

Register replies to the request for quote from both vendors to both lines.

  1. Register the reply from one of the vendors assigned to the request for quote, and save the request for quote reply. The lowest/highest statuses on the reply are / .

The lowest/highest statuses on the request for quote header and lines are now / .

  2. Register the reply from the second vendor assigned to the request for quote, and save the request for quote reply. The lowest/highest statuses of the reply are / .

Now all replies for the request for quote are registered and the lowest/highest statuses of the request for quote change to / .

    Note Note

If you decide to return a reply to the vendor for further negotiation, the lowest/highest statuses stay / .

Accept a reply

Accept one request for quote reply, and reject the other.

  1. Accept one of the request for quote replies.

The lowest/highest statuses on the request for quote reply changes to / , and the lowest/highest statuses on the request for quote change to / .

  2. Reject the other request for quote reply.

The lowest/highest statuses on the request for quote reply change to / , and the lowest/highest statuses on the request for quote change to / .
