You can manage transfer orders from the form. The purpose of using transfer orders is to handle items in transit between warehouses within the same company, but across different geographical sites.
Transportation time
If is selected in the form, you can automatically calculate the transportation time based on the setup in the form. Enter details about the method of transportation, the shipping and receiving point, and the number of days it takes using the various forms of transportation.
NoteThe shipping point and the receiving point are always of the type .
Master planning
When you firm up planned transfer orders they become transfer orders. When more than one planned transfer order between the same warehouses is firmed up, the shipment date and receive dates are taken from the earliest order date and latest delivery date of all the planned transfer orders. Additionally, you can assign a planned transfer order to a transfer order before firming the planned transfer order.
Warehouse management
If you use warehouse management, you can ship directly from the shipment form and receive directly from the arrival journal.
NoteThe issue transaction for transfers can have only one financial dimension ( , , or ). This is to ensure that the transaction is appropriately valued according to financial dimensions. If a transaction has more than one financial dimension, it must be split into multiple journal lines.
Posting to general ledger
When items are transferred to a warehouse on a different site, the transaction will result in postings to general ledger. This enables sites to have different costs for the same items. Prerequisites are that the sites have been set up with different financial dimensions and that transfer accounts have been specified.
