Use this form to view and maintain cost data within an unblocked costing version. A costing type indicates whether a costing version will contain standard costs or planned costs, which then constrains how cost data will be entered and calculated. Data maintenance includes entering cost records for purchased items and transferred items, entering cost records for cost categories (associated with routing operations), calculating cost records for manufactured items, changing the status of cost records from pending to active, and copying item cost records to a costing version. Site-specific cost data can be maintained when you use the multisite functionality.
The form also supports the maintenance of cost data that is associated with unblocked costing versions, and it also supports the creation of a new costing version and the definition of its policies.
A costing version can also contain content about item purchase prices or item sales prices for BOM calculation purposes.
Tasks that use this form
Examples
A distribution company employing standard costs might define one costing version that contains the standard costs for the current period, and define additional costing versions for future periods. The costing version for the current period standard costs would only contain active costs, and the blocking policies would prevent the entry of pending costs and prevent a status change from pending to active. The active standard costs will be used for valuing inventory transactions.
A manufacturing company employing standard costs might define one costing version that contains planned costs for cost calculation simulation purposes. The costing version for these planned costs would only contain pending costs, and the blocking policies would prevent a status change from pending to active. The costing version for these planned costs would also define a fallback principle of active costs. To simulate the impact of cost changes, the company only enters pending cost records (within the costing version for planned costs) for the anticipated cost changes to selected items, cost categories and indirect cost. The company performs a BOM calculation for the costing version in order to simulate the impact of cost changes on the calculated costs of manufactured items.
