Use this form to create or update ledger account categories. You can use account categories, which are attributes, to classify ledger accounts. For example, suppose you want to view information for current assets, and the following asset type accounts are defined for your company:
-
10000 Cash
-
11000 Accounts receivable
-
12000 Inventory
-
13000 Long term investments
-
14000 Property, plant, and equipment
You consider cash, accounts receivable, and inventory to be current assets, so you want the sum of accounts 10000, 11000, and 12000. You can use account categories to define an account range from 10000 to 12000, so you can view current asset information.
