Use this form to record material and work center consumption. The top part of the form shows the production number and name, and the number of items scheduled for production and/or started. Details are listed in the table below, and the estimated number of items that will be used in production appears at the bottom of the form. You can change automatic estimates of material consumption.

More on automatic estimates of consumption.

When production orders are started or reported as finished, a BOM-type production journal with journal lines is created. You can choose to automatically register and/or post estimates of material consumption to a picking list journal. If you want the estimates automatically registered, but not posted, the application will generate an open journal where you can adjust information about material consumption before posting.

Navigating the form

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tab

Description

Overview tab

View or enter the posting date for physical item picking, the production number and the lot ID. The rest of the fields provide an overview of the picking list journal line status. These include the item number that is used for production, the configuration, the warehouse where the item is stored, the proposal, the unit, and whether the item is finished.

General tab

View or enter general identifying information. This includes the journal number, the BOM, inventory quantity, and information about scrap and end reporting for the selected journal line.

View related inventory references and BOM information for the selected journal line.

Dimension tab

View or select values for dimension fields for the selected record.

Buttons

Description

Check the journal for required information before posting.

Check for errors and then post the journal.

Review the status of all transactions.

Select to set up the function. You can run this as a batch job.

Check inventory information for the journal line, including inventory transactions, the available inventory for the selected item, and reservations.

Fields

Field

Description

The production number is a unique identification of the production order. When new production orders are created, the number is either allocated automatically or entered manually. For more information, see the Production orders (form).

The name of the production. The field is automatically updated when you select .

Note Note

Identification of alternative work center

You can select ALT+H to see the work center table. If you have insufficient capacity at the work center attached to the operation in the production route, the operation can be scheduled on the alternative work center. This occurs as long as the operation has an attached requirement equal to, or smaller than, the requirement specified on the alternative work center. If there is more than one alternative, several work centers that can be used based on the set requirements, the operation will be scheduled on the first work center with available capacity. A descriptive name is defined here for the production order. This makes it easier to identify a production. You cannot correct this field. When a new production order is created, the name is automatically filled in with for the item the production is concerned with. See also the Create production order (form). You can change the name when the production is created.

The field contains the scheduled production quantity. To see information about how to change the production order quantity, click Production orders (form).

This field displays the start quantity. The start quantity is updated automatically with the quantity that is started.

Posting date for physical item picking. The system date defaults but can be changed until the line is posted.

Displays the production number that is registered for which material consumption is to be registered. Consumption feedback is available only for productions with the status Started or Reported as finished.

The identification of the item lot.

Displays the item number that is used for the production. An item other than that specified in the bill of material can be released.

Select an item configuration to specify an item with specific attributes.

Enter the warehouse where you will store your items.

The amount in BOM units which is expected to be consumed based on the estimated production orders. The field will only show a value if you have specified that the material consumption of the production should be entered manually in the base data for the item. For release journal lines, proposals for release in the BOM unit and for release in the inventory unit are displayed. If there is a difference between these units, the base data of the item includes a conversion factor. See the section Unit conversion (form)for a detailed description of conversion factors.

Displays feedback on the actual consumption in the BOM unit. If you have defined in the base data for the item from which the estimated material consumption for the production is to be picked automatically, a higher or lower consumption is defined. A lower consumption is entered as a negative amount.

Base data retrieved for current item.

If the field has a check mark indicating that the operation is finished, the backorder delivery on the BOM of the production is regarded as zero, even though the quantity of reported finished differs from the started quantity.

The estimated quantity or volume of the item to be used in the production. Indicate in the box whether the consumption is variable or constant.

The box is used with Production - Job scheduling (class form). The calculation is as follows:

Variable consumption

Estimated quantity or volume = (in the production order) * (in the BOM).

Constant consumption

Estimated quantity or volume = (in the BOM).

Note Note

When calculating consumption, also include variable or constant removal scrap. For a detailed description of how to calculate removal scrap, see the and boxes.

Similarly, any specified in the production route will also be calculated in the consumption.

Displays the consumption to be released to production in the BOM unit for the estimated quantity in Release occurs with start or reporting as finished, by using a release journal. For more information about release journals, see Release production orders. For more information about bill of material units, see .

Displays the quantity of items in the BOM unit released to production. For more information about releasing, see production Release production orders. For more information about bill of materials, see . The BOM unit can be recalculated to the inventory unit. For more information about recalculation, see Unit conversion (form).

This field displays the consumption that is released to the production in the BOM unit but has not yet been included in the cost accounting. For more information about cost accounting, see Run end production .For more information about bill of material units, see .

Sequential numbering of the journal number.

Identification of the line.

Displays the sequential numbering of voucher numbers. If you want to attach transactions to an existing voucher number, select the voucher from the journal table or from the journal lines.

Scrapped quantity in BOM unit.

If there is a loss, select the cause of the error here. Select from the following options:

  • Machine items are scrapped due to machine breakdown or fault.

  • Operator items are scrapped due to bad manufacturing by employees.

  • Material items are scrapped due to bad delivery.

Displays a proposal for the amount in the inventory unit that is expected to be consumed based on the estimated production order. The field will only show a value if you have specified, in the base data for the item, that the material consumption of the production is to be entered manually. For release journal lines, proposals for release in the bill of material unit and for release in the inventory unit are displayed. If there is a difference between these units, the base data the item includes a conversion factor. For a detailed description of conversion factors see section Unit conversion (form).

Displays feedback on the actual consumption in the inventory unit. The field is automatically updated, when you enter a consumption amount in the BOM unit. If there is a difference between the inventory unit and the bill of material unit, the inventory unit is converted on the basis of the base data defined for the item. For a detailed description of conversion factors, see section Unit conversion (form).

Indicates whether the line is a reverse entry.

Identification of the item's dimensions.

Inventory reference type processing the transaction.

Inventory order number processing the transaction.

Displays a definition of the BOM position. You can use the position to define the drawing number.
