Use this form to create and manage routing groups. When you use routing groups, parameters are set for the entire group rather than for each individual route. You can specify automatic feedback on calculations or other parameters in a route group, or you can define job types relating to scheduling, job management, operation time, and capacity. The following parameters can be set for a particular routing group:

Cost calculation

Set up calculation parameters to define whether setup time, process time and quantity are included in an estimate. Check for more information on estimates on the tab and in the , and fields.

Feedback

You can work with feedback parameters in a variety of ways:

  • Set up feedback to run automatically when certain values in the consumption estimates for setup time and process time are triggered.

  • Specify that an estimated quantity automatically triggers feedback each time a production enters the Reported as finished status.

  • Decide whether an operation that uses feedback is also automatically reported.

Note Note

Check the and forms. For more information about whether route consumption and bill of material (BOM) consumption should be picked automatically, see and .

Job management

Set up job management parameters individually for each job type. Specify parameters to check that the following conditions are met:

  • Job scheduling has considered the current job type.

  • Job management can make use of the current job type.

  • Operation time is calculated based on the Gregorian calendar.

  • The job type reserves capacity in connection with job scheduling.

Notes

  • You must define routing groups, cost categories, and operations as prerequisites to the creation of routes.

  • You must set up parameters before you use a complex network.

  • If a route contains different kinds of operations, it can be assigned to more than one routing group at the same time.

Navigating the form

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tabs

Tab

Description

Overview tab

Define and name the routing group.

General tab

View or edit general information about the selected routing group, including the routing group identification (ID) and the methods for handling estimates, costing, feedback, and automatic route consumption.

Setup tab

View or edit criteria that are used to process the selected routing group, including enabling or disabling the route or job types. These categories include activation, job management, and working time capacity.

Fields

Field

Description

Identification of the route group. Operations are to be attached to a route group. The route group's setup is attached to the operation. The setup is used in connection with, for example, jobs scheduling start. For more information about tab Production orders (form).

Specify an optional name for the route group.

If setup time and setup category are specified in the route and this check box is selected, the estimation will calculate the contribution of the setup time. If this check box is selected and setup time is reported by a route/job journal, the costing will also calculate the contribution of the setup time. However, if the parameter is clear and setup time is reported by a journal this will not affect the cost price.

Note Note

Setup times are typically part of the price calculated for the item, so this field should typically be selected.

For more information, see Production - Estimation (class form).

If process time and process category are specified in the route and this check box is selected, the estimation will calculate the contribution of the process time. If this check box is selected and process time is reported by a route/job journal the costing will also calculate the contribution of the process time. However, if the parameter is clear and process time is reported by a journal this will not affect the cost price.

Note Note

Process times are typically part of the price calculated for the item, so this field should typically be selected.

For more information, see Production - Estimation (class form).

If selected, quantity is included in the estimate. This means that the planned quantity of the finished product is the quantity that is calculated per operation on the route. However, the quantity depends on the specified for the individual operations, which can give a surplus throughout the operations. For more information on tab in Production route (form).

If the field is selected and you have specified a quantity type on the route's operation, the prices for the quantity types will be included in the estimate.

You can use quantity, for example, as a piecework addition for each piece reported as finished. If this check box is clear, then no cost amount will be posted when the production is historically costed.

For more information, see Production - Estimation (class form).

If selected, it is possible that the estimated is automatically consumed in connection with start or reporting as finished. Estimated consumption is transferred to the consumption journal, which is then posted to the ledger automatically or manually. Consumption is registered for the production when route journals are posted. You can override the parameters in connection with start and reporting as finished of productions. For more information, see Production - Start (class form)and Production - Report as finished (class form).

Select this field if the calculated time is to be fully consumed so the setup time cannot be gathered. Select this field also if you want to focus on over-consumption of setup time, and the consumption is to be at least equal to the estimated setup time. In this case possible feedback can override the estimated consumption. If, for example, there is feedback on setup time for an operation that is equal to or smaller than the estimated setup time, the consumption is still added to the estimate. In other words, work center pick is automatically activated for setup time for the positive difference between the calculated setup time minus the registered consumption transactions of setup time. If the registered consumption transactions of setup time are greater than the estimated transaction the consumption of setup time will be the registered consumption transactions.

If selected, the estimated process time is automatically consumed in connection with start/reporting as finished. The estimated consumption is transferred to the consumption journal which is then posted to the ledger automatically or manually. Consumption takes place when route journals are posted to the ledger. You can override the parameters in connection with start and reporting as finished of productions. You can override the parameters in connection with start and reporting as finished of productions.

Select this field if you do not want feedback of quantity, but want that the estimated quantity always is consumed. Select this field also if you want to focus on quantity, and the consumption is to be at least equal to the estimated quantity. In this case possible feedback can override the estimated quantity.

If, for example, there is feedback on quantity for an operation that is equal to or smaller than the estimated quantity, the consumption is still added to the estimate. In other words, quantity is automatically set to the positive difference between the calculated quantity minus the quantity of the registered consumption transactions.

If the quantity of the recorder consumption transactions is greater than the estimate, the quantity consumption will be the same as the registered quantity.

Select this field if the operations on the current route group are to be reported as finished manually. You can override the parameters in connection with reporting as finished of productions. Select this field if the feedback through the route and job journal will decide whether the operation is finished.

If you select one or more of these four fields (Activation, Job-management, Working time, Capacity) opposite this field, scheduling will take the job type into account.

For example, by selecting the Job-management field, you will be able to job-manage jobs of the type in question. If you only want to be able to job-manage for setup time and process time ,only these 2 columns need be selected. For more information, see Monitor production jobs (form).

Working time can be scheduled either via the Gregorian calendar (7 days per week; 24 hours) or via the defined working time. Therefore, you can control whether the work center's working-time calendar is used or not.

If you select the Working timefield, scheduling will be based on the defined working time. For more information, see Working time templates (form). Furthermore, when Working timeis selected, the job of the job type in question will be scheduled from 00:00 a.m. on the date defined as the job's starting date. If you select the Capacity field, capacity will be reserved in connection with the scheduling of the current job type. By doing so, you get an overview of which job types in each route group will be drawing on resources from the work centers. For more information about work centers, see Work centers (form). For more information about scheduling, see Forecast plans (form)and Master plans (form).

In a situation where, for example, drying work centers (drying drums and the like) are bottlenecks, these work centers would have to be defined according to the Work centersform. In this case, drying operations in the form of queue-time job types should reserve drying work centers.

Often, machine, tool, and human resources work centers are only of interest in connection with setup and process time. When this is the case, select the Setupand Processjob types for this type of work center's route group.

If selected, the job type will be calculated and scheduled, and feedback given upon job scheduling.

If selected, the job type will be job-managed upon job scheduling.

If selected, the job type will be scheduled according to the working time defined for the work center's working time calendar. If cleared, the Gregorian calendar will be used. See also .

If selected, the job type will reserve capacity upon job scheduling.
